Individual Well Program

The Individual Well Program is available to all properties within the unincorporated areas of Talbot County that rely on individual wells to provide potable water supplies, agricultural wells, ground water heat pumps, irrigation wells, etc.  Well drillers who are licensed to drill wells in the State of Maryland submit
applications for review and approval by this office.  The permit applications are reviewed and well site inspections are conducted to ensure proper well placement.  Well construction inspections are conducted to determine whether proper drilling practices are used.  Water samples are collected and submitted to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene laboratories to determine potablity of the new water
supply where appropriate.
